Privacy Policy for StashTrace
Effective Date: July 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to StashTrace ("The Archivist's Desk"). We built StashTrace with a strong commitment to inventory data isolation. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the StashTrace application.
The short version is: Your trays, drawers, and index cards never leave your device. We use a third-party ad network to support the app, which may collect device identifiers to serve personalized ads.
2. Data Controller Identity
For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, the Data Controller of this application is Rufat Rzayev ("we," "us," or "our"). You can reach us at originalsappsinfo@gmail.com.
3. Data Collection and Storage
StashTrace is a local-first application designed to keep your inventory data private.
- Zero Cloud Dependency for Inventory: We do not use cloud servers to store your drawers or index cards.
- Local Sandbox: All of your data—including your trays, drawers, index cards, ledgers, and metadata (such as financial tracking or custom tags)—is stored securely and strictly within your device's local sandbox.
- No User Accounts: We do not require you to create an account, log in, or authenticate over the web.
4. Third-Party Advertising & SDKs
StashTrace is a free application supported by advertising. To provide ads that are relevant to you, we partner with third-party ad networks. Specifically, we use Google AdMob.
- Premium Upgrade: If you purchase the one-time Premium Upgrade to remove ads, the AdMob network integration is completely disabled (meaning no ad requests, analytics events, or advertising identifier exchanges will occur). The only remaining network interaction from the app will be secure, anonymous checks to your device's native app store (e.g., Google Play) to verify your premium purchase receipt.
- Data Collected by Ad Networks: When you use StashTrace, Google AdMob may automatically collect device information, including your IP address, device type, operating system, and unique Advertising Identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID).
- Privacy Policies of Third Parties: You can review Google’s privacy practices by visiting the Google Privacy & Terms page (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
- Personalized Ads: With your explicit consent, this data is used to serve personalized advertisements. You can manage your consent preferences at any time through the app settings or your device's privacy settings.
- Strict Data Firewall: Our ad partners do not have access to your StashTrace inventory. Your drawer names, index card details, tags, and ledgers are completely walled off and never transmitted to our ad partners.
5. Data Processing
All processing of your inventory data (e.g., aggregating total estimated values for insurance auditing) is performed entirely on your device.
6. Analytics and Telemetry
- No Performance Tracking for Core Features: Any performance mapping or auditing of your inventory usage happens entirely locally on your device and is never transmitted. We do not use general third-party crash reporting tools (like Firebase Crashlytics) for the app itself. However, please note that the Google AdMob SDK may collect basic diagnostic and performance data related exclusively to the delivery and health of advertisements.
7. Network Interaction
StashTrace requires network connectivity exclusively to serve advertisements via AdMob and to verify Premium Upgrade purchases via your device's native app store. The core inventory functionality remains completely offline, ensuring strict data isolation for your personal items.
8. Device Permissions
StashTrace only requests permissions necessary for local, on-device functionality.
- Camera and Storage/Media Access: Requested solely to allow you to take photos of items or upload photos to your index cards. All photos are stored locally within the app's secure sandbox or your device's local storage. We do not access, collect, or transmit your photos off-device.
- Local Notifications/Alarms: Used strictly for setting local reminders (e.g., lending reminders). These run entirely on your device without server interaction.
9. Data Loss and Liability
Because StashTrace is a local-first application designed for absolute privacy, your data is stored exclusively on your device and is never synced to our servers.
- Data Loss: If you uninstall the app, clear the app's local data, or lose your device, your inventory data will be permanently deleted. We do not have the ability to recover your data. We are not responsible for any lost data and highly recommend using your device's native backup solutions.
- Limitation of Liability: StashTrace is provided "as is." We assume no liability for data loss, inaccurate inventory tracking, inaccurate valuations for insurance purposes, or any other damages arising from the use of the app.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
If we update this policy to reflect changes in functionality or legal requirements, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
11. Your Rights Under GDPR (EEA & UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Legal Basis for Processing: Our primary legal basis for processing device identifiers for personalized advertising is your Consent. You have the right to withhold or withdraw this consent at any time. We rely on Legitimate Interest to process basic network diagnostic data for fraud prevention and ad health, and on Performance of a Contract to securely verify Premium Upgrade purchases with your native app store.
- Right to Access and Portability: Since we do not collect or store your inventory data on our servers, we cannot provide a copy of it. You can access and export your data directly within the app using the local backup/export feature.
- Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You can delete all your data instantly by clearing the app data in your device settings or uninstalling the app.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You can withdraw your consent for personalized advertising at any time through the privacy settings within the app, or by adjusting your device's native ad tracking preferences.
12. Your Rights Under US State Laws (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a resident of California or other US states with applicable privacy laws, you are granted specific rights regarding your personal information:
- Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: We do not sell your inventory data. However, sharing device identifiers with ad networks for personalized advertising may be considered a "sale" or "share" under CCPA/CPRA. You can opt out of this by declining personalized ads in the initial consent dialog, through the privacy settings within the app, or by adjusting your device's native ad tracking preferences.
- Right to Know and Delete: As stated above, all inventory data remains strictly on your device. You can delete it locally at any time.
